How does Oath keep my data and contact info private?

Donor privacy is our top priority. Per our privacy policy, Oath doesn’t share or sell your contact information, like your email address and phone number.

Most other platforms share this directly with campaigns, which is exactly what leads to unwanted spam emails and texts. Once a campaign has your data, it often sells or swaps its list, resulting in more unwanted contact from campaigns you’ve never heard of. Depending on which candidates or causes you choose to support, we may be legally required to share information like your address, occupation, and employer, to remain in compliance with campaign finance law.

That doesn’t mean you’ll hear from the campaign directly. Every campaign is instructed not to contact Oath donors for any reason when they join the platform, and we enforce this policy across the board. If you’re contacted by a campaign as a direct result of your contribution, please contact us.

Note that many campaigns purchase large data sets that your email address or phone number may already be part of, so a general communication may be unrelated to your donation. Even so, if you report it to us, we’ll still raise the issue with the campaign on your behalf.
