I received communications from a candidate even though I made my donation through Oath. Why did this happen, and how can I make sure it doesn’t happen again?

Oath has a strict policy prohibiting communications from campaigns to Oath donors, which is shared with candidates before we add them to our platform. We never share your personal contact information, such as email and phone number. Oath only shares the legally required information as directed by the pertinent campaign finance authority (e.g., FEC), which may include name, address, and employer.

Please note that many campaigns purchase large data sets which you could be part of. Receiving a general communication may be unrelated to your donation but we will still flag the issue.
