Is Oath's algorithm effective?

Oath’s algorithm is designed to help underfunded candidates in close, high-stakes elections, and it has consistently proven effective. While many organizations emphasize the win rate of the candidates they support, that metric can mask poor decisions about which races to target. Instead, Oath focuses on the share of funding directed to elections decided by less than 5 points, since those are the races where donations have the greatest impact.

In 2024, Oath directed more than 67% of funding (over 300,000 donations) to races within that margin, by building trust in our Impact Score and personal recommendations. For example, Oath highly rated Dante Pittman’s race in North Carolina in 2024. Oath donors accounted for nearly 30% of his total individual donors, and he ultimately won by just 871 votes, breaking the Republican supermajority in the state.
