What do competitiveness and seat status mean?

Competitiveness indicates how likely a race is to be decided by less than 5 points. If a race is denoted as a Toss Up, it indicates that a race is likely to be decided by <5% points.

Lean means the designated party has a distinct edge, but the race is still highly competitive and could go either way. Likely means the designated party has a clear, strong advantage, but isn’t invulnerable.

Seat Status shows whether the seat is currently held by a Democrat (Hold) or a Republican (Flip). Learn more here.
