Why does my credit / debit card show a $1 charge from DEMENG?

Oath uses Democracy Engine (DEMENG) as a payment processing partner to ensure all donations are securely disbursed to recipients in a timely manner. For first time donors, there is sometimes a temporary $1 charge to verify your credit card. The charge should appear as “pending” and will be removed from your card within 1-2 business days.
